How to Make a Framed Keychain Display

Posted by Cecilia Katan on

Welcome to tips'n'tricks from Pinz'n'Thingz!

In this blog post, I'll show you how to make a framed keychain display!

Here's a video tutorial. You can also continue reading below for a written version.

Here’s what you’ll need for this project:

A shadow box or gallery-style frame;
Any kind of wood cut to fit your frame;
A wooden dowel;
Measuring tape or a ruler;
Paint;
A paintbrush;
A pencil;
Hot glue;
And square hooks.

Start by taking apart the picture frame. You won’t need the glass, matboard, or backing.

If your frame has any movable parts, be sure to glue them down before starting.

Next, glue in the wood. Avoid overflow by not using too much glue.

If needed, you can add more glue around the edges at the back.

If your dowels are too long, cut them to size and sand the ends.

Next, paint the dowels if you’d like.

Then, mark the spots where you’ll put the L-hooks. Make sure you leave enough space at the top for the dowel to fit!

You can put as many as you need for the size of your frame. If you’re unsure of how far apart to place the dowels, measure your longest keychain. Or, you could vary the spacing to accommodate different sizes.

And voila!

I hope you found this tutorial useful! Thank you for taking the time to read it. You can leave any questions or comments below.
