Three Spooky Pin Display Ideas

Posted by Cecilia Katan on

Welcome to tips'n'tricks from Pinz'n'Thingz!

In this blog post, I'll show you three spooky pin display ideas!

Here's a video tutorial. You can also continue reading below for a written version.

Idea number 1: mounted bat.

Here’s what you’ll need for this project:

A scrap of wood or address plaque;

A floppy plastic bat;

Scissors;

Two nails;

A hammer;

Wood varnish;

And a paintbrush.

The first step is to varnish the wood, unless yours came pre-finished.

Next, cut off any hanging strings from the toy bat.

Then, align it on the plaque, and nail it down by the top of the wings.

And that’s all! Add your favourite pins, and you have a spooky decorative piece for Halloween or all year!

Idea number 2: Crystal Ball

Here’s what you’ll need for this project:

A foam ball;

Sandpaper;

Mod podge;

A paint brush;

Two colours of paint;

A ramequin;

Spray paint;

And a fork.

First, start by spray painting your ramequin.

Next, sand the foam ball to remove any seams and make sure it’s smooth.

Then, using the fork to hold the ball, add a layer of Mod Podge to seal the foam.

Once that’s dry, add your base colour to the ball, and paint a second coat if needed.

Next, water down your second colour and paint around the foam ball to create a swirling mist effect.

Add a coat of glossy Mod Podge when the paint is dry.

Then, use a little more Mod Podge to glue the foam ball onto the ramequin, and you’ve got yourself a fun faux crystal ball to display pins on!

Idea number 3: Fancy skeleton

All you need for this one is a skeleton, and an article of clothing, and you’ve got a fun way to show off enamel pins all year or to your guests on Halloween!
